Face Frame
Face Framing Highlights are delivered by our specialist team, trained in precision contouring techniques by industry icons Moe Harb and Shady Harb.
With over 35 years of combined experience, the duo has refined a strategic placement method that instantly brightens and frames the face. Featured in Forbes Magazine, their exacting standards allow us to create a clean, bright contour that naturally enhances your features.
Our team can achieve a crisp, bright blonde on any hair base. By using precise foiling around the hairline, we create cool, creamy tones without the brassiness often associated with lightening darker roots. Throughout this process, the integrity and health of your natural hair remains our absolute priority.

Face Framing is a strategic colouring technique that focuses on lightening the hairline to create a bright contour around the face. By using precision foiling on these key front sections, we achieve clean definition and maximum brightness that contrasts beautifully with your natural base colour.
This targeted method is designed to instantly lift your features and add dimension where it is most visible. It is the perfect “touch-up” service to extend the life of your colour between appointments. By refreshing the front hairline, you can maintain the brightness of your existing Highlights or Balayage without the commitment or time required for a full head of colour.

DiscoverHow Face Frame is applied
Your stylist will begin the face framing process with an in-depth consultation. During this discussion, we assess your hairline density, natural parting, and facial features. This step is crucial to determine the precise placement needed to enhance your complexion and ensure the new brightness connects naturally with your existing colour.
Following the consultation, our precision foiling technique is applied to the front hairline. We isolate specific strands along the contour of your face, tailoring the weave from micro-fine babylights to bolder sections depending on your desired result. By encasing these key sections in foils, we generate maximum lift to create clean, cool tones, eliminating unwanted warmth while ensuring the health of your natural hair is prioritised.

Face Framing
We recommend a Face Frame to clients looking for a high-impact change with minimal commitment for the following reasons:
-
The Ultimate Refresh: This is the perfect service to maintain your look between larger appointments. By concentrating colour solely around the hairline, you achieve the feeling of freshly highlighted hair without processing your entire head. It reconnects the brightness to the root where it matters most, making your overall colour look brand new.
-
Low Commitment & Cost: Because the colour is focused on a small, specific section, it is a quick and budget-friendly service. It allows you to experiment with a bolder, brighter look at the front while leaving the rest of your hair natural, significantly reducing overall maintenance.
-
Contouring Effect: Just like makeup, a face frame can be customised to contour your face shape. Your colourist can adjust the placement and thickness of the highlights to frame your features perfectly, adding dimension exactly where it has the most visual impact.
Balayage
We recommend Balayage to clients looking for a low-maintenance natural-looking hair colour technique for the following reasons:
- Root Growth Blending: With balayage, the colour is applied to allow a gradual transition from your natural hair colour to the highlighted or coloured sections. As your hair grows, there won’t be a stark contrast between your roots and the rest of your hair, resulting in a less noticeable regrowth compared to other methods.
- Less Frequent Touch-Ups: Unlike traditional foiling or highlighting methods that require touch-ups every four-six weeks, balayage can go much longer without needing a refresh. You can typically wait eight-twelve weeks or longer between salon visits.
- Soft and Natural Look: Balayage creates a softer, more natural look than a uniform, all-over colour. This natural effect means that even as the colour gradually lightens over time or as your hair grows, it still looks intentional.
- Minimal Bleaching: Balayage requires less bleaching than traditional full-head highlights. Since the bleach is strategically applied, it reduces the need for frequent conditioning treatments.
Highlights
We recommend Highlights to clients looking for maximum brightness and a precise, consistent colour result for the following reasons:
-
Root-to-Tip Brightness: Unlike balayage, which often keeps a natural root, highlights allow colour to be applied right up to the scalp. This creates maximum brightness from the very top of the hair, perfect for those who want to feel significantly lighter or blonder overall.
-
Maximum Lift: By encasing the hair in foils, heat is trapped, allowing the lightener to lift the hair to a cleaner, brighter shade than open-air techniques. This makes highlights the ideal choice for clients with darker hair who want to achieve a cool, creamy blonde.
-
Precision & Consistency: Foil highlights offer a controlled and structured finish. Whether you opt for ultra-fine ‘babylights’ for a subtle blend or a classic weave for dimension, the result is a uniform colour distribution that integrates perfectly with your natural hair.

@beautyclublondonFrequently Asked Questions
Will a Face Frame make a difference if I wear my hair up?
Yes, this technique is specifically designed to ensure you have brightness around your face even when your hair is tied back. It adds instant polish and definition to ponytails and buns, ensuring you never feel “dark” or flat around the front, regardless of how you style your hair.
How do I maintain Highlights?
To ensure the health of your hair and extend the life of your colour, we recommend the following steps:
Wait before washing: Allow at least 48 hours before your first wash to let the colour settle.
Use the right products: Invest in a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner designed for colour-treated hair. This prevents fading and keeps your blonde bright. We will recommend the best products for you during your consultation.
Wash less often: Try to limit washing to 2 or 3 times a week. Frequent washing can strip natural oils and cause the toner to fade faster.
Protect against chlorine: Chlorine can cause blonde hair to turn green or brassy. Always protect your hair by wetting it and applying conditioner before swimming to create a barrier.
Are Highlights suitable for all hair types?
Yes, highlights are versatile and can be adapted to suit every hair texture and density. Whether you have fine, straight hair or thick, curly textures, we tailor the placement and weave size to complement your natural style.
For fine hair, we may use ultra-fine sections to create dimension without causing damage. For curly or textured hair, we adjust the placement to ensure the colour pops against the curl pattern rather than getting lost. We also customise the strength of the lightener to suit your natural base colour, ensuring the health of your hair is always prioritised.
Whats the difference between Highlights and Balayage?
Highlights lighten hair sections in a variety of ways, from subtle, natural-looking shades to dramatic, high-contrast colours. Highlights are particularly popular for adding a uniform lightening effect to hair without changing the base colour.
With balayage, hair is painted free-hand instead of using closed foils, offering a more customised look than traditional highlighting methods. Those seeking effortless and natural-looking hair colour transformations often choose this method because it is versatile and allows for different shades and dimensions. In addition to its low-maintenance appeal, balayage minimises noticeable regrowth lines compared to traditional highlighting techniques.
How much does a Face Frame cost?
A Face Framing starts from £100 with a Stylist and £150 with a Director. This includes the precision placement of foils around the hairline to brighten your look instantly.
For more info, see our price list.
Does a Face Frame include a toner?
Yes. Just like a full head of highlights, the lightened sections around your face need to be toned to achieve your perfect shade – whether that’s a cool icy blonde or a warm honey hue. The toner ensures a seamless blend with the rest of your hair.
How long does the appointment take?
Because we are only focusing on the front hairline, a Face Frame is a relatively quick service. The colour application typically takes 30-45 minutes, making it the perfect way to refresh your look without spending hours in the salon.
Can I get a Face Frame if I have dark hair?
Absolutely. Face framing is incredibly effective on dark hair. We can create a high-contrast, bold look or a soft, caramel glow that illuminates your complexion. Since we customise the lift, we ensure the tone perfectly complements your natural base.
